As a long-time customer of Bitmotion, the Alfred-Wegener-Institut does not only focus on qualitative support for their main page, but for the 20 associated microsites, which are also maintained in their complexity. There are many different contents available for different target groups – with the help of individual content elements, e.g. in tile optics, a unified and visually appealing appearance of the web presence is ensured nevertheless. Some microsites also contain scientific publications, which are continuously updated. In order to fit all target groups in the best possible way, the sitemap of the main page attaches particular importance to certain focus topics, e.g. "Working and Learning" or "Research and Expeditions".
Due to regular polar expeditions, which are accompanied by a great media interest, new editorial content is published almost every day – it is, of course, necessary to optimally integrate corresponding news, expedition reports and research reports into the AWI website and to guarantee a smooth and user-friendly site visit. The TYPO3 Enterprise Search with Solr not only allows users to filter scientific content at will, but also to filter the jobs of the Alfred-Wegener-Institut for suitable job offers. In addition to functions for front-end users, Bitmotion also manages the Institute's intranet to provide employees and scientists with an ideal platform for fast, easy data exchange and internal communication.
